Woman spared jailed over child porn

A NSW woman has avoided jail after pleading guilty to producing child abuse material of a victim that was known to her.

The 35-year-old woman avoided a stay behind bars after being sentenced to a three-month suspended jail term and placed on an 18-month good behaviour bond in the Armidale District Court.

She had pleaded guilty to one count of producing child abuse material for use through a carriage service in late October and was sentenced on Thursday.

As a result of the investigation, a child was identified and removed from harm, the Australian Federal Police said.

The woman was arrested in late March 2020 following a tip-off, with the AFP claiming the Australian woman used an international encrypted messaging service to share child abuse material.

Members of the public who have any information about people involved in the possession or sharing of child exploitation material are urged to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
